This morning-after-the-night-before take on the classic smokey eye reminds me of the likes of Joan Jett and Alice Glass just as much as it reminds me of the bad girls at school smoking fags behind the bike sheds. Rebel glamour with a tonne of character!
Bobbi Brown Smokey Kajal Liner – £18 … Super soft and highly pigmented, Bobbi’s range of six smokey shades in this Kajal pencil are perfect for the waterline and blend like a dream.
Illamasqua Eyeshadow Brush – £19 … I worked for Illamasqua for a little while before and during their launch many moons ago now, I fell in love with this brush then and it’s still a kit staple now. The synthetic bristles are really packed into this one, making it ideal for really whacking on the colour, as well as perfect for blending more creamy textures.
MAC 224 Tapered Blending Brush – £23 … A total classic amongst makeup artists. I have about six of these in my kit and would be lost without them! I use my trusty 224s for blending and applying eye shadow, buffing on concealer, creating stained lips, highlighter application the lot.
Too Faced “Better Than Sex” Mascara – £19 … Better Than Sex is a bold claim for a mascara, but it’s certainly damn good. It gives lashes that intense black voluptuous drama without clumping, and the brush is very generous with its application. Three coats finishes a grunge eye makeup with the perfect rock chick lashes.
MAC Mixing Medium Shine – £16 … Any grunge eye makeup, to me, needs a little of that worn in creasing, and this product will give you that without being too high shine, or too try-hard. A favourite at fashion week, if you see a super dewy finish to the models’ skin it’s likely Shine Mixing Medium is the culprit. Just Google image search it and all will become clear!
